On behalf of the Zimbabwe Association of Community Radio Stations (ZACRAS) I would like to thank all the member initiatives, funding partners, our projects implementing partners from CSO, media partners and presenters who participated in our annual conference and made it a success.
The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe is currently holding public meetings for shortlisted applicants for commercial radio licenses. The schedule for all the public hearings is as shown below;
ZACRAS welcomes efforts by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe to liberalise the airwaves. This follows the call for applications made in October 2013 and recent reports in the Herald of 9 January 2014, that the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) had received 21 applications for local commercial radio licences from across the country ahead of its January 7, 2014 deadline.
As Zimbabwe celebrates 34 years of Independence from the colonial rule, ZACRAS joins the rest of the nation in commemorating this special day, applauding the great sacrifice and selfless acts of services done by the gallant sons and daughters of the soil.
