As the world commemorates this year’s International Women’s Day, today the 8th of March 2014, under the theme “Equality for women is progress for all,” ZACRAS takes time to acknowledge the contribution by women, the world over, in seeking to influence local and national development processes.
Reports from Nyanga say people were in queues as early as 4am with the majority of voters being the elderly and a few youths. There have not been long queues except at Troutbeck. No incidences of violence have been reported.
ZACRAS has noted the recent judgement of the constitutional court that elections should be held by the 31st of July 2013.
The expectation therefore is that elections will be held on or before the set date.
As Zimbabwe celebrates 33 years of independence, ZACRAS joins the rest of the nation in paying tribute to the gallant sons and daughters of the soil who sacrificed life and limb for the freedom of all.
